I can't understand why people are sleeping on a hidden gem like this. The animation is good, action scenes are well done, the plot is unique, the main character is quite mature... I personally don't have any complaints for this show until now.

I was totally with you until you said the MC is "quite mature" :D

I mean, sure, maybe compared to other anime MCs he is, but in general terms, dude's got all of his screws loose and is quite irritating most of the time.

But still, he has plenty of room for growth and that takes nothing away from this anime being quite good :)

otherwise the guy's an adult... over 18 and all. here is how mature he is: he's got his head on pretty straight, got a job to do, doesn't walk around filthy like Pigpen or fat like a cow, isn't living on the streets like a hobo, he's working instead of sponging off family/friends/the government or going to college just to be 'doing something', he may be single or inept with women or something along those lines, but at least he isn't a manwhore humping everything with a pulse spreading STDs and knocking up females left and right then dodging child support. so yeah by just about every social metric out there... the guy is QUITE mature. :D

before you say anything about him being a 'houseguest' for a year, his BOSS... nee granpa... told him he would be fired and lose his 'certification' to work. so, this homestay is on-the-job-training. shrug, just think of it as a new job position that provides room and board. :>

I may have not made my point very well. He may well be mature from THOSE points of view, but being so single minded and CLOSED minded is not really a sign of maturity.

I get he was traumatized, but ignoring the advice of everyone around him who is more experienced (especially his gramps, since that's someone he has no reason not to trust) and insisting on thinking/talking only with his fists... that's not how grown ups fucken deal with stuff. I hope :D At least, no grown ups that I know do that.

He's fine in most regards, but being (fundamentally) a racist is enough (I'd say) to compromise any other good point he may have.

Again, I'm not necessarily complaining. The anime is good and an MC needs to have some character flaw in order to have room for growth.

I may not be very fond of his particular flaw, but who cares, it'll be all the more satisfying seeing him grow, if indeed he does.

But mature he is not, at least in my opinion.

I was sleeping too. Today I started this and awake now.

The manga was serialised a long time ago, I was surprised it only got an anime this late - when the whole anime industry is either LNs of the isekai genres, more recent Jump series adapted, and seasonal hits. It doesn't have a very unique setting that pops compared to those - in a sense that it can be boiled down to typical shounen MC fights monsters (and I know that's being very general), and having a series name that is similar to the famous monogatari series isn't helping to stand out.

That being said, I saw snippets of the manga series last time, which is what prompted me to check out the anime, because I didn't get around to read the manga. And yes, I'm enjoying it thus far as well.

Pretty interesting anime so far so good.

Will be 8/10.

I was not expecting her to be so important lol I taught she's just the last of her clan so she was being protected but with this new development I think here will be a war arc and the MC will save her. so 8.5 if that happens

What did we learn this episode? Botan doesnt sound very human. If she is supposed to be a neutral piece. Maybe she is a hybrid born from human and whatever the inanimate objects are.
